Broken Wire Detection

Autotech's Resolver Decoder circuits have a Unique feature that generates a signal if any one of the resolver wires are broken. This special circuit, proprietary to Autotech only, monitors wiring continuity at the same time the resolver is performing its position sensing at full speed upto 5000 RPM. The false signal provides an alarm and shuts of the operation of the Decoder.

Autotech products are designed withextreme durability in mind. It is not uncommon to see an Autotech Resolver along with its Decoder and/or PLS working flawlessly for more than 20 years. This is attributable to innovative and sound design techniques employed by Autotech engineers. When Autotech initially designed its resolver based programmable limit switch in 1975 for use in automotive metal stamping industry, the automation engineers wanted new technology but at the same time wanted the new devices to have the same wiring and noise immunity that electromechanical CAM switches had. As a result Autotech designed an incredible system which prevents damage to the low voltage resolver decoder signals (operating at less athn 10V) even when 120V AC continuty meters were getting used to check wire continuity between the resolver and the decoder which could sometimes be a much as 500 ft long. In addition Autotech resolver wiring and circuits were designed to be short-circuit proof in other words an acciental short between any of the resolver wire even when system is fully operational will not cause any damage to the resolver or the decoder. Short will be detected and operation will resume when the short is removed without having to restart the system.
